Drouin West Primary School
Drouin West Primary School is an existing school located in West Gippsland, 90km from Melbourne in the shire of Baw Baw. The school is situated in a natural rural environment. The School was Master Planned in 2007 for an LTE of 176-200 students with a peak enrolment of 325. The Master plan/Capital works project commenced in 2007 and construction of Stage 1 was completed in April 2009. Stage 1 included the new administration and associated facilities, Multi Purpose space and a Teaching wing inclusive of a creative Arts Studio. The facilities were designed to incorporate flexibility of spaces to enable a variety of configurations to cater for individual, small group or whole grade gathering areas. The teaching spaces can cater for a variety of furniture layouts, including integration of ICT workstations and space for quiet reflection and reading within the built spaces and with the connection to external teaching/learning spaces. Whilst providing for all the needs of the school, the design is very conscious of its use by the greater community out of hours.
